20 Feb Featured Artist | Anka Yura | Fire in the Air

Amartuvshin Yura, AKA Anka Yura, was born and grew up in Mongolia. She currently resides in Los Angeles, California. It was during a creative writing class at UCLA in 2015 where Anka realized her passion and love for writing. She has been writing songs and short scripts ever since.
“I just want to write beautiful words and melodies for film and stage.”
What is “Fire in the Air” about?
“Fire in the Air” is a song about love and relationships. It describes that a fire cannot light itself without the air. The same theory applies for love and relationships. Love is a very powerful thing. Yet it’s not so powerful if the other in the pair is no longer there. So I referred to air as a man, and fire as a woman.
How did you get started as a lyricist?
Writing songs is not my main profession, but it does come naturally to me. Songwriting is the one thing that I can do all day without thinking about anything else.

What do you find challenging about songwriting?
Every time I start writing a new song, frustration comes along, and I think I should’ve learned better, done better, known better, and whatever better. But in the end it’s more about the journey; getting past the boring details is all part of the process. I was born and grew up in Mongolia and my native language is Mongolian. At this point, writing a song in the English language is what challenges me most. I’m also becoming close friends with the classic writers of English literature. It’s always fun to learn something new.
What is the best part about collaborating with Demo My Song?
I really appreciate how Demo My Song turned my songs into such catchy melodies. Working with Trystan Matthews was an eye opening experience for me. Seeing my songs from different angles that I never thought possible, always feels great. Trystan Matthews is not only a brilliant producer, but he has his own unique taste and great insights when it comes to music. I’m so excited to be collaborating again with Demo My Song and 5050songs for my upcoming song “Tango Night.”

Posted at 02:05h, 21 FebruaryBeautiful song, Anka! I love the image of woman being fire and man being air.
The chorus is wonderful and, once again, Demo My Song has come up with the perfect tune. The singer does a great job. All in all, a wonderful production.

Posted at 21:10h, 23 FebruaryVery nice song and lyrics and production. I really related to your comment about not being a full time song writer but I, too, willingly do it all day without a thought. It’s hard focused work but there is nothing I find more enjoyable.
